VIGO, UN LUGAR NO MUNDO

Vigo is a place like any other because, on a scale we can readily understand, it contains everything that defines the human experience elsewhere. At its core, there is nothing exceptional about it. What happens in Vigo could happen in any city when our attention is drawn to what truly matters: the shared experience of everyday life, with its fragile balances, quiet achievements, and recurring shortcomings. Precisely because of this, the city becomes the starting point for a broader reflection on how we live together in today’s world. Vigo is presented here not as an exception, but as a mirror—one in which the dynamics, tensions, and aspirations shared by countless other communities come into focus.

The fine art photography that shapes this book grows from a desire to preserve that way of seeing over time. Light is treated as a material that gives form to the image; composition seeks an inner sense of balance; and detail serves not as ornament, but as revelation. Textures, contrasts, and moments of visual stillness create a language that invites contemplation and careful observation. Each photograph is intended to stand on its own while also finding its fullest meaning in dialogue with the others. TRACES OF WATER

The photographs in *Traces on the Water* were taken across the region of Galicia in northwestern Spain, with a particular focus on the city of Vigo. The only exception is the final image, photographed in Riga, Latvia.

Within these pages, you will encounter many different ways of living alongside water and embark on a visual journey through both the natural world and the urban landscape. You will witness the ways water shapes people’s lives, discover the connections between nature and the built environment, experience the beauty of the night, and see how, in the lives of the smallest creatures, a single drop of water can become the central character.

Allow each person the dignity of his or her own labor. Wealth justly gained is honorable; wealth unjustly gained is dishonorable; wealth kept for one’s self is shameful. Owning things isn’t bad; being owned by things is bad. Goodness is a gift from those who went before. Therefore, make things better for those who come after.
